Bouquinistes Stalls from Paris, France by Frozen Sailor

Let cities bloom (again) ! - The Frozen Sailor Minute

Do no lose the faith, it's time to wear eyeglasses (and masks). By the end of May, things started to evolve in a good way in Paris and French Regions : terraces that are essential to social life were set with tables. As you have guessed, they were immediately full. The book stalls (bouquinistes), Museums, theatres, and cinemas took down their shutters and opened their doors (culture cannot wait). And many of us rediscovered how essential certain so-called “nonessential” shops really are.

And as Thursday 3 June, nearly 40% of France population have received the first dose of the Covid vaccine. A positive note for this weekend you may thing. How are things going on in your city / country ?

Culture at a glance

  • A Medieval Cathedral discovered in a deserted city. The university of Polish Centre of Mediterranean said that its experts found the remainds of an old Medieval cathedral in Old Dongola,n what is now Sudan. Old Dongola was the capital of the one of three Christian Nubian Kingdoms, which existed for more than several centuries.

  • Let's spend for 15 000 € for nothing... . In May, italian artist Salvatore Garau auctioned his artwork called Io Sono ("I am"), composed of nothing... To be fair, the artist might disagree on conceptual grounds. He finds form in its own nothingness. I was wondering where did the buyer left this invisible art creation at his/her house...

  • The Modern and colourful Centre Pompidou in Paris will expand its reach by opening an outpost in New Jersey. The new museum, which will be located in a 100 year-old industrial building in the Journal Square district, is set to open in 2024 with a 5 year contract between the city and the French institution.

  • It smells like Van Gogh's flowers.... The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has partnered with a fragrance company Floral Street to develop a line of scents inspired by the artist’s masterpieces. I bet they the sunflowers will be one of the first fragrances !
